Meteorologische Zeitschrift (Contributions to Atmospheric Sciences) - originally founded in 1884 - is the joint open access journal of the meteorological societies of Austria, Germany and Switzerland. It sets a counterpoint to purely commercial publication formats. In 2021 the journal is celebrating its 30th anniversary. In 2016, the Swiss Society for Meteorology SSM (Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Meteorologie, SGM) celebrated its 100th anniversary. The idea of this book is to give an overview of what has happened in the field of atmospheric sciences in Switzerland from the first systematic long-term meteorological observations until today.
